  • It just got easier to connect pregnant people and new parents to home visiting services!

The Home Visiting eDirectory makes it easy for expecting parents and those with young children (ages 0-5) to find and enroll in home visiting services, which provide free parenting education and support, plus connections to helpful community resources.

Home visiting services help parents know what to expect and how to promote their child’s healthy growth and development. Their home visitor also helps them find additional services (like medical care during pregnancy and after the baby is born, nutrition assistance, access to free or low-cost baby essentials), and so much more. All of this support is provided by an Early Childhood Specialist, Registered Nurse, or other trained professional, who will meet the family at their home (or another local place if the family prefers). This personalized approach helps moms, dads, and other caregivers feel confident that they’re giving their baby the best start.

Many people aren’t familiar with home visiting services, but this type of support isn’t new. L.A. County’s youngest residents and their families have been benefiting from home visiting for over 20 years. One of the first home visiting programs offered in L.A. County was Nurse-Family Partnership, and it’s still going strong. But now there are almost a dozen other free and voluntary home visiting programs to choose from – like Early Head Start, Healthy Families America, Parents as Teachers, and Welcome Baby.
